Ron Schuyler teaching classCourse Description
BNR is a 2-day course with integrated troubleshooting workshops illustrating how to monitor and control biological nutrient removal processes including nitrification/denitrification and enhanced biological phosphorus removal-- designed for mid- to high-level wastewater professionals.

With more troubleshooting and updated real-world examples of plant applications, participants will obtain tools to improve controls and design, provide proper sample and data collection, and gain understanding of microorganisms. Through group discussion, problem-solving, and workshops, students will be encouraged to participate in active learning in order to return to their own facilities with ideas for optimizing process controls, cutting costs, producing higher quality effluent, and improving their plants’ sludge settleability.

For students new to Tetra Tech RTW Training & Education, and for previous Tetra Tech RTW BNR students, updated materials and discussions will foster advanced learning in: nitrogen and phosphorus chemistry; biochemistry and microbiology; nitrification & denitrification; and, nitrogen & phosphorus removal. Training will focus on creating lessons and operational strategies through Troubleshooting Workshops that students may take back and apply to their facilities to optimize performance.

Your Instructors: Ronald G Schuyler, P.E., B.C.E.E., Steve Tamburini, P.E. & H. C. Laing, Ph.D.
