Monarch Ski Area
Facility Plan & Wastewater Treatment Plant
Tetra Tech RTW prepared a wastewater facility plan for Ski Monarch because of revised effluent discharge limits for the ski area. The result of this effort involved replacing the existing aerated lagoon facility at the ski area with a mechanical plant-an SBR activated sludge plant.
Tetra Tech RTW prepared plans and specifications for the plant, which included fine-screening headworks, flow equalization, and an influent pump station. Impact to the U.S. Forest Service site was reduced by completely enclosing the treatment system in a small footprint split-faced block building. We designed a UV disinfection system for this application, with control modifications to adjust for a batch process.
The project was constructed by a design-build team approach with Southwest Contracting, general contractor, and Monarch maintenance crews sharing the sewerline and earthwork construction. Tetra Tech RTW supervised the project, which included permitting for removal and land application of biosolids from the lagoon process.
